Now That the Weather is Changing… Let’s Talk Haircare.
With the seasons shifting, it's not just your wardrobe that needs adjusting—your hair routine does too.
For me, I like to keep things simple. I stick to a routine that works and just tweak the products slightly, especially my leave-in conditioner. A small change can make a big difference as the weather gets drier or more humid. But don’t worry—we’ll dive deeper into the details as we go.
The Importance of Proper Haircare
Let’s be real—wash day can feel like a full-time job, especially for us textured and curly-haired girlies. I get it. The thought alone can be draining. But luckily for you, I’ve found a way to break it down into manageable steps so it doesn’t feel so overwhelming.
When wearing a protective style, it’s crucial that your hair underneath is well-moisturized and properly cared for. A style is only truly protective if your real hair is thriving underneath. That means using products that are tailored to your hair’s needs—not just what’s trending on TikTok.
My Go-To Routine
My routine is simple and realistic—because life gets busy! I usually wash my hair about once a week, depending on how much product I’ve used or if my scalp feels like it needs a reset.
My holy grail brand is Shea Moisture, hands down. I love their masks and conditioners. I also switch it up sometimes with Aussie, especially when I want a little extra slip or moisture. Both brands give me the hydration and softness my hair craves.
After washing, I always use a leave-in conditioner. In the colder months, I go for something thicker and creamier to lock in that moisture. I follow that with an oil or serum—something light like grapeseed or jojoba—to seal everything in without weighing my hair down.
And of course, I’ve been loving the Flourish Growth Oil. It gives my scalp the nourishment it needs to stay healthy and flake-free, which is a must when the air gets dry.
Final Thoughts
Your hair is your crown, and taking the time to care for it—especially during seasonal changes—makes all the difference. The key is consistency, listening to what your hair needs, and not overcomplicating the process.
As we move into this new season, I encourage you to take a fresh look at your routine. What’s working? What needs to change? Small tweaks can lead to major results.
Stay tuned—I’ll be sharing more about the specific products I use, tips for protective styling, and how I keep my hair thriving no matter the season.
Until next time,
Stay moisturized and flourishing.
